Family Law

Whether we are negotiating a prenuptial agreement, representing one party in a divorce, helping an unmarried couple solidify their relationship through proper planning or dissolve their relationship, assisting a family through custody or child support issues, or petitioning for an adoption, we are sensitive to the emotional turmoil that matrimonial and family law matters can create in our clients’ lives.  We approach these matters with calm, experience, and compassion.

We are not afraid of a fight, but we also believe that a non-adversarial approach to a marriage dissolution is often best for our clients and their families. When appropriate, we serve as skilled and competent divorce mediators committed to kind and fair resolutions. We are members of the Connecticut Council for Non-Adversarial Divorce.

Some of our happiest work comes from assisting parents in the adoption of their children, including stepparent and second-parent adoptions for both opposite and same-sex couples. Read more about stepparent and second-parent adoption here.

We are also particularly mindful of and proficient in navigating the emotional and legal complexities involved in family law as they impact same sex couples – from the dissolution of marriages to issues associated with having and adopting children.
